Vest Update

I was able to speak with the folks trying to help me get a Smart Vest today!!  Looks like my insurance has everything they need to make a decision as to whether they will cover it.  So, still waiting.  I should know something by next week.

They did tell me that we will have to pay a little over $2,000 out of pocket, if approved.  This is based on what is left of my $1,500 deductible plus the 10% coinsurance.  The SmartVest will be billing my insurance $12,750 - eek!  So, I'm looking at paying about 16% of the cost.

Can't wait to see what happens!  Hoping insurance will let me get it!!  I have noticed the past week or so that my current vest has been sounding funny.  It may be starting to die on me :/

No Will Power and Other Shenanigans

Now that Easter is over and I can eat sweets again, I have no will power :(  I ate TWO bags of Sour Patch Kids on Easter...who does that?  There hasn't been a day where I haven't had Sour Patch Kids or some form of candy since then.  Oh my!  I even bought myself some when I said I wouldn't.  I'm a failure :/  Oh well, guess there are worse things I could do!

On another note, CF STINKS HAS REACHED $10,000 FOR THE GREAT STRIDES WALK!!!!!  I'm so happy!!  I can't believe we have raised over $10,000 for 2 years in a row...wow!  I am looking forward to a great event on Saturday.  So, please be thinking of us!    And thank you so very much to my wonderful supporters!!

This past weekend, we visited some friends in Johnson City, TN.  They had a baby back in October and we still had not met him, so we were happy to meet sweet Nolan!  Isn't he a cute fella?!?!
Having fun playing!

We went on a hike!
First time on the Appalachian Trail!
Whitney, Bryan, Nolan, Will & I

What else have I missed sharing?!?!

I did another 5K on April 19th.  It was Miles for Melanoma.  I was happy to do this in memory of my Munner which we lost in October due to Melanoma.  I finished in 34 minutes 22 seconds.  Not my best time, but I was OK with it.  I finished 4th out of 12 in my age bracket and 60th overall (200+ participants).  I'm not sure if that is good or not, but I'll take it :)  I won't lie, it felt pretty rough running - I hadn't been running to prepare myself, shame on me.

All done!

That's pretty much it!  Looking forward to a great walk this weekend!  I'll share pics soon!

Thanks for reading :)

Counting Down

I love counting down to big events!  And I have a few coming up!

Easter -just 4 more days!!!
Woohoo!  Then, I can eat sweets again.  I just can't wait!  I have decided that I will try to keep my sweets to a minimum from now on, but not give them up totally!  To assist my goal here, I am vowing not to buy myself any candy, but will definitely eat any people give me.  So, if you want to get me some candy - go for it!  I love Sour Patch Kids (as you all know), SweetTarts, Reese's Peanut Butter cups...heck, pretty much everything!  LOL

Great Strides - 2 weeks and 3 days!
I'm so happy that CF Stinks has hit $8,000 towards our $10,000 goal - yay!! I know we can do it!!  If you would like to help us reach our goal, you can donate here: http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/cfstinks

My Birthday - 7 weeks and 1 day
I can't believe I will be 31.  I was so shocked and stressed about 30, I feel like I blinked and its about done.  Here's hoping I get to have another fun celebration :)  I'm thinking Vegas sounds fun!!

A New Vest - not sure how long...
I've started the insurance approval process for my new vest! Yay!! This old beast I have will be going out the door.  Hopefully soon than later.  I spoke with a rep from SmartVest yesterday and we are moving forward!  Let's hope insurance will help out *fingers crossed*.  I often find myself in the position where they think I am "too healthy" and don't need certain things.  Well, I am where I am because I take care of myself!! So, fork over the SmartVest!!

My Weekend with Adam

This past weekend, Will and I had the pleasure of babysitting our nephew, Adam, while my brother and sister-in-law had a weekend away!!  It was a blast!!

He is 9 1/2 months old and absolutely amazing!  We arrived Thursday and he was all smiles for his Aunt Dana :)  Unfortunately for Uncle Will, Adam was a bit skeptical...lol.  I found it rather amusing. Can't blame the little guy - he hadn't seen his Uncle since Christmas!

On Friday at dinner time, Michael and Amanda headed off and we were all alone on baby duty!  We had a fun evening in and I got to rock Adam to sleep.  Such a sweet time.  He was a good boy and went to bed around 8, woke up at 12:30am for a diaper change and bottle, then slept til 7:20ish in the morning.
Checking out Uncle Will
Saturday was a fun day for the 3 of us.  We decided to leave the comfort of the house and risk going in public with an infant that isn't ours! What?!?!  We went to the mall!  Put that little guy in his stroller and did some shopping and grabbed some lunch in the food court.  He sat like a good boy and enjoyed people watching with us.  Not to mention, everyone commented on how cute he is ;)

Thought this outfit might help him warm up to Uncle Will ;)

Mall Time!
We cooked dinner in and hung out on Sunday until Michael and Amanda got home for a late lunch.  I can't leave out the diaper near-explosion that occurred Sunday morning!  Adam definitely broke us in - well, just me.  Will was too busy gagging to be any help on clean up.  Sadly, Will and I headed to the airport Sunday night for a late flight home :(  It was a fast weekend, but one I will cherish forever.  And hopefully, the first of many!

There is something about Adam's age that I just love.  He wants to explore and wants to play...and he thinks I'm absolutely hilarious.  Not sure why, but I get lots of giggles and smiles.  I think he thinks I'm crazy ;) He wants his independence, but is also still a baby.   He loves being held and cuddled when he goes to sleep.  There is nothing quite like rocking a baby to sleep - such innocence.

Out cold....
Snuggling

If I wasn't already wrapped around his little finger, I'm toast!  He just needs to give me one of those smiles and the world is his.

Getting ready to start walking soon!
Will got a smile :)
Gotta love a baby in just a diaper!  Cuteness!!
Play Time!
And by the time we left, Will could hold Adam!  Success!!

Jersey and The Big Apple

Last week was a fun week visiting my family in New Jersey.  The parentals had a trip so I got to come up and lend my babysitting skills.  Although it isn't really babysitting when my sisters are 17 and 12.  Regardless, got lots of girl time with my little sisters, which is one of my favorite things!

We had dinner out Sunday, then Callie (12) and I went to the movies on Monday after school (Divergent is AWESOME!!!).  Just the normal busy stuff - and I definitely don't miss getting up early!  They got a new puppy just a few weeks ago, so I got to be on puppy duty...which I love!!

Meet sweet Berlin.  She's a beautiful Great Dane and unbelievably sweet and smart.  She gets along well with their other Great Dane and Shih Tzu....so cute and clumsy :)

Winnie (big Great Dane), Berlin, and Zoe (the Shih Tzu)
Then on Thursday, my stepmom and I went into New York City for the day!! Soooo fun!  We went to see Live with Kelly and Michael, shopped and ate at Carnegie Deli.

On set!
Me and Sarah - so excited!!
Gelman!
Mel B. and Michael - Kelly was out all week :(

Ending the show
TEMPTATION AT ITS FINEST!!  Carnegie Deli
Our lunch - open face pastrami rueben - yumm-o!!
I caved :(
I'm bummed that I gave in and ate some sweets (which I gave up for Lent)...but man, was it worth it! AH-MAZING!!!  I'm claiming it was strawberries and cheese...nothing sweet there ;)

Finished up the week in Jersey with a massage - yes!! And then headed home on Saturday morning.  I did bring home a souvenir, unfortunately it wasn't one that I wanted - A COLD!!!  I've been coughing and sneezing and blowing my nose.  Thankfully, I'm feeling SOOO much better.  But, now the darn pollen in South Carolina is in full force so now I'm sneezing because of that.  I'm over it!

Half Way There

I'm excited that we have reached $5,000 towards our $10,000 goal for Great Strides!!  Thanks to some wonderful folks for donating!!

Our newest sponsor is Securitas!!  They are long time supports of CF Stinks and I'm so grateful :)

You too can donate and help us reach $10,000 by going here!!!

Pupdate!

Its been a while since I've shared a pupdate, so figured I'd take the opportunity to give one now :)

Sarge and Stella had their bi-annual check up this morning and all is well!!  Yay!!

Sarge:  Weighs 53.4 lbs, up just a few ounces from 6 months ago.  His knees have some arthritis in them, so he needs to stay on the Ligaplex and Bone & Joint Remedy drops.  EKG was good and no heart murmurs!!
Sarge

Stella:  Weighs 50.1 lbs, which is also up just a bit from the last appointment.  EKG was good, no heart murmurs, clean rolls, clean ears...all good!
Stella

I always hold my breath while the doctor is listening to their hearts.  Since my poor Sophie had a bad heart, I get nervous.  But, all is well - yay!!  Of course they got tons of attention and love.  They beg for treats after the their turn on the table.  Silly bullies!  They get so excited that they actually took a little snooze while waiting on the blood and fecal exam results...lol.

Sarge
Stella
I'm going to add some green beans to their diet again and cut back the food just a bit.  The leaner they can be, the healthier it is for them (and better for the joints too!).  So, to the grocery store I go to stock up :)  They have been on Trifexis for flea and heart worm treatment, but I switched it up since we need to be sure they are protected against ticks (so they can enjoy our trips to WV this summer).  So, they will be on Advantix and Heartgard.

That's about it.  So happy my babies are healthy!!  They are zonked as I type - snoring like crazy! <3 Love them!!

CF Appointment 3.14.19

And just like that, another 3 months has passed by.  I headed to my CF appointment on Wednesday, March 13th. I saw lots of my favorite peo...
