Spring has not sprung :(

Well, I thought spring was here.  The big event that usually kicks off spring is Steeplechase.  Its a horse race here in town, where everyone gets dressed up - girls in sundresses (some wear hats) and guys sport their sear-suckered pants/shorts.  Its the event of the year in our town!  This year was my 10th Steeplechase (if I remember correctly) and the first year we had bad weather.

Typically, its slightly cool in the morning, but by the afternoon the sun is shining & you can even get sun burnt if you aren't careful.  However, God had a different plan this year.  We had rain :(  But, we made the best out of it!  Still got dressed up and headed to the field at 9:30am.  It was overcast all morning, until the rain started around 1pm.  We all huddled under the tent, thankfully it didn't give way to the heavy rain.  Wish I could have snapped a picture, definitely was a funny site seeing everyone hiding out and the few random people just running around getting soaked.  It only …

Appointment

I had a great appointment on Friday!  Will even tagged along this time!  My FEV1 was 93% and my FVC was 101%!  Woohoo!  We talked about me not exercising the past couple months & I informed them, I am on my way to make a come back in exercising.  Then, we discussed changing my enzymes since the Ultrase MT 20s still aren't approved...I've just been living off reserves & its time to switch since I can't get them any more.  They have me trying Zenpep.  So far, so good.  Had a few belly aches at night, but nothing major, probably just getting adjusted.  If all goes well the next few days, I'll get my prescription for those.
Also, we discussed getting Will tested for the CF gene.  Now don't go crazy thinking I'm going to have a kid anytime soon (if at all).  Just curious and want to know all our options before we make any kind of decision.  I guess we will get that taken care of in the next few months.
As for my exercising, Will and I went to buy a mounta…

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top of the morning to ya!  Well, afternoon now.  Happy Saint Patty's Day :)  I remembered that today was St. Patty's but completely slipped my mind when I got dressed, so no green for me today.  Fortunately I work from home and no one will pinch me or give me a hard time (Will knows better!).  That used to drive me nuts in school when people would pinch.  However, Sophie is sporting her festive Shamrock collar today :)  She was refusing to get her picture taken today (like most days), but I snapped a few as she was looking out the window.

So glad its my Friday!  Taking a vacation day tomorrow for my doc appointment and then to relax and enjoy the weekend.  Kind of been a chaotic week at work for me and Will.

Last but not least, Happy Anniversary to my wonderful In-Laws!!! Love you guys :)

Pics

Just wanted to share some pictures from my trip to Pittsburgh:

!*^$?<@#!*^?

As of today, I'm failing Lent.  I have not had any Sour Patch Kids (despite my cravings and the 3 bags my Aunt gave me in Pittsburgh!), but I've cursed more than I care to admit.  It doesn't help that I have a very bad case of road rage and people cannot drive.  Poor Brandy, was subjected to my behavior on our drive to and from Pittsburgh.  I cursed, I honked, I flashed my lights, I flipped the bird, I tailgated and just about lost my mind while driving.  I'm sure I'm not the best driver in the world, but I at least have a clue what's going on.

I don't understand how people ride in the fast lane when they aren't even doing the speed limit - MOVE OVER PEOPLE.  The worst is that they are oblivious to what's going on - cars pass them in the right lane and they just keep on putzing along.  Ahh!  Then, you have the people that pass you (I am considerate and move over if I'm in the fast lane and see someone approaching behind me).  Then, a few miles up…

Road Trip

I took a road trip this weekend with my BFF Brandy - and it was great!!  We left Friday late afternoon and drove to Pittsburgh.  I've done the drive more times than I can count, but this is the first time that I was the driver!  Let me say, its definitely less fun as the driver - 9 hours in a car, in the same position, staying awake - yuck!  But, I'd do it again in a heartbeat to see my family.

We arrived just before midnight at my Aunt & Uncle's house - needless to say, we pretty much went straight to bed.  Saturday morning, we got up and went to the best chocolate/candy place ever - Sarris Candies.  They have every kind of chocolate imaginable.  So, we got lots of goodies and headed to my Pap's house.  (I highly suggest their chocolate covered pretzels - best in the world).  We visited with Pap for a bit, then headed downtown with my Dad & little sis Callie to ride the Incline.  I haven't done it in years, so it was cool to do a touristy activity :)  Then…

Our visit to the zoo

A few weekends ago, the weather was fabulous, so our friends invited us to the zoo with them.  I just love the zoo - animals make me happy (with exception to snakes, spiders and all those creepy crawly things).  Just wanted to share some pics from our great day:

A little of this, a little of that

Lent has begun and I must admit I'm craving some Sour Patch Kids - ahhh!! This is too soon to be having withdrawals.  Unfortunately, I've cursed at least twice today. I caught myself immediately and corrected my verbiage :)

I had lunch today with some old buddies from college.  We had a great time catching up - I love spending time with friends - it just makes my day!  And tonight, we are going to eat dinner at our best friend's house & get to hang out with my favorite one year old!!

I'm on week 3 of my off week from Cayston & feel fabulous.  I have coughed a slight bit more today and yesterday, but I blame the hubby.  He's had a funk the past few days and hacks a lot.  I'm trying to avoid him :)  I'll start back on the 19th with my Cayston.

I'm heading in for my quarterly check up next Friday, so I'm excited to see my fabulous CF team!  Should be an easy visit, just PFTs and my regular appointment - no X-rays, blood work or bone density tes…

Hooray for Lent

I've very happy that Lent will be starting on Wednesday!  A little background on me, I was raised Catholic however, do to all my moving around as a kid, I was never Confirmed.  I stopped CCD after I made my first Communion (I was a year behind and did this in 3rd grade).  Unfortunately, I don't go to church as I should and hope to improve this in the future.  I too would like to get Confirmed, but I keep finding excuses to not enroll in the classes.  Will also missed Confirmation - he did all the work, but skipped the service for a wrestling tournament.  So, we are in the same boat.  Speaking of Confirmation, my little sister is getting Confirmed this June & I'm sooooo proud of her!
As for Lent, this is a great opportunity to give up things (foods/actions).  Last year, I gave up my two weaknesses - Sour Patch Kids and dark soda (Diet Dr. Pepper & Cherry Coke Zero were my addictions).  On Easter, I packed in the Kids (as I call them) and I have only had 1 or 2 dark…

Amazingly Fabulous

Have I said how wonderful my family & friends are?  I'm not one to brag (too much), but when it comes to how awesome my support system is - I just can't help it!  The Great Strides walk is just under 3 months away - and of course I have been procrastinating in raising funds...its not cause I don't want to and I don't care - I just simply despise asking people for donations.  But, back to the point, I already have donations from some friends & family - how cool is that!!  I haven't even harrassed anyone yet - other then emailing last year's walkers & asking them to walk again.

And, my fabulous BFF is hosting a party on Friday (31 Gifts, Willow House - formerly Southern Living, Pampered Chef & Stella and Dot).  These fabulous consultants (which are also amazing friends of mine) are donating their commission to CF!  Again, how cool is that!!  Shopping & fundraising - fabulous!
Now, that I've used a million amazingly fabulous adjectives about …

Happy Birthday Sophie

My little girl turned 6 on Saturday!  I can't believe how fast time has gone by.  Its nice that she's getting older - not quite as hyper as she was as a puppy.  I don't know where she gets the energy - bulldogs should be lazy - I got a defective one!  JK - she is perfect & I love her!

As usual, we had to make a trip to the vet - we are good for something to go wrong at least once a year.  Although, I was looking back at the receipts from last year & she had a great 2010 - no surgeries or emergency vet runs - woohoo!  So, we ventured off for a quick check up yesterday.  Since we moved, I needed to find a new vet for her anyway, so we killed two birds with one stone.  The new guy was great - Sophie loved him - I know this because she peed everywhere, multiple times.

Turns out she has a staph infection which is causing the pink hairless spots on her belly and legs.  So, the doc prescribed an antibiotic for 20 days and cream on the sore spots.  Fun stuff, but should …
