I'm a lobster

Well, with all the moving and holidays the past 2 months, I've slacked on my tanning.  I looked in the mirror the other day and didn't recognize the white as a ghost figure staring back at me.  So, I got motivated and started the hunt for a tanning salon in our new town.  In the south, they aren't hard to find, so I landed at a place right down the street.  I know it is bad for you, but it is one of my vices.  I just don't like myself without some color.  Perhaps its my vanity coming out, but its just something that make me like me better.  I feel healthier, younger and prettier with a tan.  I like nice cars, nice purses & a nice tan!  Other than that, I'm pretty easy going :)

So, of course when I go to sign up, I fall for the expensive package, the expensive new tanning lotion and of course the after tanning lotion that makes your tan last even longer.  Sad to say I nearly spent $150 on tanning in a day - yikes!! So, I went twice at the beginning of the week last week and started my base tan - got slightly pink, but it was gone by the next morning.

On Friday, I thought I should step it up a bit and really kick my tan into full gear.  Well that ended in me looking like a lobster.  Every inch of me was burnt.  If you haven't had a tanning bed burn before, I truly believe they hurt worse than a normal sun burn.  The pain didn't kick in until Friday night - I had the hubby assist in coating me with aloe.  It hurt to sleep, it hurt to shower, it hurt to be dressed...just not fun.  So, I'm thankful that today the red has turned brown!

Lesson learned:  when you get hot in the tanning bed - get out! No one looks good as a lobster!

Mother - Daughter Time

Since we moved in December, I haven't seen my mom near as much as I used to (granted we only live an hour away).  We would go to lunch several times a week, go to dinner or she would cook us dinner (even better!), we would go to the movies and just talk.  I would say she truly is a best friend.  Now I feel a little guilty for leaving since all she has now is my little brother.  And 16 year old boys are not that fond of their mothers.

So, I was so excited when I got to spend a little extra time with her last night!  Now, we don't have the same tastes in clothes, but we are able to relate to CAbi (Carol Anderson by Invitation).  If you haven't heard of it - its fabulous!! Its like having a Pampered Chef party but with clothes!  Check out the website here.  Its just great, they have a new line twice a year and we went to our consultants house for a preview of the Spring line that just came out.

Anyway, we had a blast - talking clothes, drinking wine and just being together.  We tried on clothes, made a wishlist of what we wanted and I scheduled my CAbi party for the spring!  Then, on the way back to her house, we picked up a pizza & breadsticks to snack on when we got home.  We watched tv (and of course mom fell asleep), but it was nice just hanging out.  I even stayed the night so I got a little extra time.

The woman may drive me nuts from time to time, but she is the best there is!! So glad to have her :)  Here's a pic of us at the Great Strides walk last year - Love You Mom!!!

Another Round of Cayston

Well, I started my third round of Cayston on Saturday and so far so good.  The other two times, I experienced some chest tightness and discomfort around days 2-5.  It was miserable...I'd wake up in the middle of the night feeling like an elephant was standing on my chest.  Never had anything like that happen to me before, so it was definitely scary.  I stuck it out and after a few days, it went away.

So when I talked to the doc back in December, she suggested taking two puffs of Ventolin before each treatment.  My lungs were probably tightening up due the medicine that it wasn't used to - no surprise they freaked out as I am not a loyal chest PT person.  So, the Ventolin was to help keep them relaxed and keep from panicking when the medicine started coming in.  I take my two hits off the inhaler right before each treatment and am happy to report that I haven't had any tightness or discomfort - knock on wood.  Breathing clear as usual, but a slight increase in cough.   Otherwise, I'm happy to report that all is well.

Yay - hope all treatments are this easy :)

Welcome 2011

2011 is here, which means a new year of adventures.

2010 was a pretty good year - had some very exciting times and some very sad times.  Most of all, I'll miss my Gram.  She was an extraordinary woman and meant so much to so many people - she is truly missed.  On a happier note, we celebrated Will's 30th birthday in Las Vegas!  We had a blast with all our wonderful friends and family members that came out as well!

There are many things I'm looking forward to this year - the first being our 5th Anniversary!  Its hard to believe that Will & I have been together for 8 years and married for 5 - how time flies.  Hopefully, we will get to do something fun and exciting to celebrate!  I'm looking forward to finally settling down & making our house a home.  We've been going non-stop since the holidays that we still have some things to get done in the house & unpack.  Then, there is the Great Strides walk for CF in May.  I'm happy to lead team CF Stinks again this year and hope to be the top fundraiser!  We have lots of work to do!  Check out to donate :)

This year has already brought some unexpected excitement - we had 4 inches of snow yesterday which is still on the ground!  Schools were cancelled - no surprise there - SC isn't exactly equipped to handle snow & ice.  So, we are all at a stand still.  The downfall of working from home is that I don't get a snowday.  So, I'm working at the kitchen table enjoying the view of the snow.

Well, I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2011!  Hopefully, I'll get some followers this year ;)

Tobi Podhaler Review

At my CF clinic in December (read here ), my doctor and I discussed starting the Tobi Podhaler to switch up Cayston.  Just like Cayston, Tob...
