Day 29

Day 29:  I am thankful for the good test results that came back today!  I finally received the results from my September CF clinic where I was tortured (took long enough!).  My sputum was good, still have Pseudomonas culturing but that's all - yay!  My glucose test and vitamin levels were all good too!  Didn't get the bone density results, but I'm guessing they weren't bad since I didn't get a phone call!  I'll be sure to find out for sure at my next appointment, which is this Friday.  Wish me luck - should be a pretty easy appointment since all the labs and x-rays were done last time! *Fingers crossed*

Day 28

Day 28:  I am thankful for my wonderful husband - today is his 31st birthday!  Its hard to believe that its been a year since we celebrated his 30th out in Vegas.  I'm thankful that I got to spend a wonderful weekend with him in West Virginia - we had a great time cheering on the Mountaineers and hanging out with his brother.  Without getting too mushy - I don't know what I'd do without him!  He's the person I turn to when I'm sad, run to tell the latest gossip too (even though he really doesn't care), the one that makes me happy, the one that I take out my frustrations on (sorry!) and the one that makes me complete.  I love him more and more each day and am beyond thankful to have him in my life!

Day 26 & 27

Day 26:  I am thankful for a safe drive back home to SC.  Again, another long day in the car, but well worth it.  The puppies were very excited to see us when we got home!  I'm also thankful for our wonderful friend Megan, who stayed with the puppies while we were gone and took exceptional care of them!!

Day 27:  I'm thankful for a day of hanging out at home!  I had a few errands to run, then spent the day cleaning (not so fun) and starting to put up Christmas decorations.  I made Will's favorite dinner and baked him a Birthday cake!  And I'm thankful to have finished my Cayston treatments this weekend!

Day 23, 24 & 25

Day 23:  I'm thankful for a safe drive up to West Virginia.  It was a looooong drive, but we made it safely!

Day 24:  I am thankful to be able to share Thanksgiving with family and some new friends.  Will's parents weren't back from their travels to North Dakota, so we drove up to West Virginia and ate with my brother-in-law Brent and some of his friends.  We fried the turkey and I made some southern mac n' cheese to take over.  We had quite the feast!!

Day 25:  I'm thankful for a fun day at the WVU/Pitt game (and a WVU victory!).  We spent the afternoon tailgating with my brother-in-law's friends and had a wonderful time.  Will knew a lot of the people that were there as he grew up with them, so I know he enjoyed catching up with some old friends.  Also, we got to see my Aunt & Uncle which drove down from Pittsburgh for the game.  My cousin plays for Pitt, so it was pretty awesome to see him in uniform and out on the field!!!

*I'll put some pictures …

Day 21 & 22

Day 21:  I'm thankful to have had the wonderful Sophie in my life.  Its now be 6 months to the day that she has been gone and boy has my world changed.  Life seemed so easy with her, but now I'm filled with the chaos that 2 puppies bring.  My Sophie knew when I was sad and would comfort me, she knew when I was pissed and she stayed away from me (haha) and she knew when I was happy and would make me even happier.  I miss that dog more that anyone can imagine.  Better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all...I'm not sure.  It sucks losing things that you love, sometimes I wonder if the heartbreak is worth it.  But I don't imagine I would be the same if I hadn't of had her in my life.

Day 22: I am thankful that this is a short week of work!  One more day and I'll get to enjoy my Thanksgiving break!  Hopefully everyone has some fun and exciting things planned :)

Day 20

Day 20:  I am thankful for my sorority sisters!  Our chapter celebrated its 10th Anniversary on Sunday night and it was great catching up with so many sisters I haven't seen in a long time.  I'm fortunate to be one of the charter members and got to be involved in the installation of our chapter at USC Aiken!  We were installed on December 8, 2001...which happens to be the day my littlest sister, Callie, was born!

I went to college knowing that I would never join a sorority - I didn't want to "buy" my friends.  However, I met some outstanding young women my first semester at school and they convinced me to come out to a soccer game to get to know them..next thing you know, I'm in!  I've never looked back nor doubted the day I joined.  I loved our group of girls so much and even became the chapter President, which is an honor of all honors.

I made the very best of friends during my 4 years and its wonderful to still have so many of them in my lives.  Althou…

Days 18 & 19

Day 18:  I am thankful for my quick nap.  Getting home at 2:30 am (after watching Breaking Dawn) was exhausting, so I was happy to get a power nap :)  The movie was fabulous and I feel like I ate 20 pounds of popcorn - great night :)

Day 19:  I am thankful for my dear friend Amanda.  She stayed the weekend with me and we got to do some fun shopping and eat out (she wasn't offended that I didn't cook for her - haha).  The hubby took a trip for the weekend, so it was just us gals and pups.  I must say, the pups love her too.  Poor Amanda couldn't move around the house unless she was being followed by one or two shadows!  She was a trooper, she survived the bulldog hair, drool, a few accidents and a stolen sock :)  Sarge and Stella are excited for her to visit again!!

Days 16 & 17

Day 16:  I am thankful for my Mom.  I got to spend some time with my Mom yesterday as we did some Christmas shopping - and we had a blast.  I'm still like a teenager somedays and my Mom drives me nuts, but yet I love her to death and call her a best friend.  I find the older I get, the more I am like her (the good things and the quirky things).  When all else fails, Mom is who you call...now, granted she usually can't find her phone to answer, but she'll at least call me back when she finds it :)  Since we moved last December, I haven't spent as much time with her as I used to (we saw eachother most every day before), but it makes our time together that much more special.  Thanks for always being there Mom - love you!!

Day 17:  I'm thankful that I get some girl time this evening!  I'm going to see the midnight showing of Breaking Dawn with some friends tonight - woohoo!  I'm rather excited about the movie and girl time...sometimes hanging out with some gals …

Day 15

Day 15:  I am thankful for my Grandparents.  Will's Grandmother has been in the hospital and it got me thinking about my Grandparents and how lucky I am to have/had such wonderful people in my life.  Growing up, going to visit my Grandparents was one of my favorite things to do.  The whole family seemed to congregate around my Grandparents...they were the center of the family.
I don't remember my mom's dad (Pap, as I called him) as well as I was in 2nd grade when he passed away, but I do remember he always read books to me and my brother - "Old Mother Hubbard" was my favorite - I actually have the book we used to read together!!  He was a kind and patient man and there is no doubt that he loved us Grandkids. My mom's mom (Grandma) was wonderful - when my brother and I would fight, she would say "ho, ho, ho" (yes, like Santa) and we would stop, she never had to say more than that.  She loved to walk, and we would walk all around where she lived - g…

Day 14

Day 14:  I'm thankful to work from home.  Yes, still employed although I didn't expect to be since I was told that I had to move to Dallas a year ago or they would replace me...long story, but still here for now.  But working from home gives me so many luxuries!  I don't have to wake up super early to get showered and dressed for the day - instead, I lounge in my PJs and get some play time with the puppies.  Then, on my lunch break - I'm already home!  I can whip up a grilled cheese or make a salad and still have plenty of time to play with the puppies.  Today, I sat outside on this gorgeous 70 degree day and read a magazine while the pups ran around.  Then, at the end of the day, I'm already home - just turn of the computer and walk downstairs.  Plus, some days I can get dinner started early or wash some clothes - not exactly fun, but its better than doing it on my weekends!  And the best plus of all - Will works from home most days, so I get to see him a bunch :)

Day 13

Day 13:  I'm thankful that I made it home safely from my travels this weekend.  I had a great time hanging out with my dad on our trip to Florida.  We ate tons of yummy food and I got started on my Christmas shopping.  I barely got everything in my bag to come back home!  I'm looking forward to having another daddy/daughter trip in the future :)

Its a Good Morning!

Day 12: I'm thankful to wake up in Florida!  I left Will and the pups at home for the weekend to hang out with my dad.  Although I miss my hubby and pups, I'm enjoying some daddy/daughter time.  I could hog the bed last night and didn't wake up to barking puppies.  The little things in life just make my day.  And best of all, I woke up to this:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Thanks Veterans!

Day 11: I am thankful to honor our Veterans today.  Freedom isn't free and without the sacrifices of our military, I know I would not be able to live the carefree life that I do.  So THANK YOU to those that have served, those that are serving and those that will serve in the future.  We owe nothing but gratitude to you for your dedication to our country.  I wish I had half the strength and bravery that you do.  I'll forever be grateful to live in the United States and be represented by the best of the best!

And, Happy 15th Birthday to my little sister Corinne!!  Love you Ree :)

Thanks & Pupdate

Day 10:  I'm thankful that money grows on trees!!!!  Wait...it doesn't!?!  Oh well, nevermind then!

I sure wish money grew on trees.  Poor Stella has taken us to the cleaners on her vet bills.  We were there again this morning for the 2 week check up since her bladder/urinary tract infection.  They got a urine sample, thanks to her over-excitement and peeing on the floor, and it still had blood in it.  Thankfully, not as much as before but its still there.  So, they did an ultrasound to see if there were bladder stones, but nothing; then they did an x-ray to see if anything else showed up, but nope...just some poop in her intestines :)  So, they are sending off her urine sample (somewhere expensive) to see if they can narrow down a bacteria in her urine that is causing the problem or it there are any crystals forming or God only knows what else.  The results should take about a week to get back.  Until then, more bladder remedy meds and some baby asprin.  I'll pay whatever …

Cayston Update

Well, I'm on week 2 of Cayston already.  Unfortunately, I missed 2 treatments already...Saturday I was exhausted and went to bed without my last round, then Sunday I woke up late and had to leave without a treatment...I would have done it in the car, but for the life of me I could not find 4 AA batteries - ahh!!

So, I squeezed in 4 treatments on Monday to help catch up....I assume I can do that...I just make sure they are at least 4 hours apart.  I did my normal 3 on Tuesday and I'm planning to do 4 today to get me caught back up.

I'm feeling great.  My cough increased slightly when I started, but has gone back down and I'm breathing clearly...love not feeling junk move around in my lungs when I breathe!  I'm doing great in my Zumba class as well...not coughing much anymore but definitely feeling the workout in my lungs - it feels great!!

Happy Wednesday to all!!

More Thanks

Day 8:  I'm thankful for the beautiful weather.  Living in South Carolina, we don't see a whole lot of really cold days or snow, but its finally getting a bit cooler here...much better then the miserable 90-100s we had all summer.  I love getting up in the mornings and bundling up in a coat to take the pups out.  The days are still warming up to the 70s which is still a bit warm for the fall, in my opinion, but the pups love it.  They enjoy running around outside and chasing all the leaves and eating everything in sight.  I love that the sun still shines brightly even when its slightly chilly out.  I just makes me happy to be outside this time of year!

Day 9:  I am thankful for my home.  I love my house and can't believe we will have lived here a year in December.  Its still not decorated completely, I'm a slacker in that department, but its not just a house, its a home.  Its a place to feel safe, it keeps me warm when its cold out and cool when its hot out.  I can be …

More Thanks

Day 5:  I'm thankful for my friends.  We spent Saturday evening hanging out with some of our closest friends watching football...we had a fajita and margarita party!  I must say everything tasted great, but the best part was spending time with friends.  True friends are pretty rare, so when you find them, hold them close and don't let go!

Day 6:  I'm thankful for my puppies.  They are 4 months old now and making great progress.  Stella is pretty much over the bladder issue and they are both learning to stand by the back door when they want to go outside.  They know their names, although they may not always acknowledge you when you call them...but they definitely know you are talking to them whether they want you to or not.  They stress me out sometimes but the joy they bring is immeasurable (if that's a word).   And they were good sleepers on Saturday morning, not so much Sunday...the time change got the best of them :)

Day 7:  I'm thankful for books.  I've rec…

Giving Thanks

I noticed on Facebook that people are posting what they are thankful for each day, so I figured I would just incorporate it into my blog :)  I'm a few days behind now, so just a bit of back tracking to do:

Day 1:  I'm thankful that Stella is getting better.  Her vet appt was Nov. 1st and she's making progress, just needs another week on the meds.  I did get peed on by her this day, but I'm still thankful to have her :)

Day 2:  I am thankful for my Daddy - his birthday is Nov. 2nd.  Although I don't see him as much as I want, its great to know he's always there!  I'm looking forward to our Daddy/Daughter trip next weekend!! Woohoo!!

Day 3:  I am thankful for my lungs.  Although they aren't the best at times, I'm still glad to have them!  I've missed a few Zumba classes the past two weeks due to other plans and a few lazy evenings, but I went back and loved it...so did my lungs!

Day 4:  I'm so very thankful that the puppies decided to sleep un…

I was peed on AGAIN

These pups are nuts!  Thats all I can say.  Stella went in to the vet yesterday for her 1 week follow up on her bladder/urinary track infection.  Even after a week, there are still traces of blood in her urine, so she is going to stay on her bladder remedy meds for another week.  She also got a shot, can't remember of what, but its to try and help the inflamation.

She's still acting like her crazy self, which is good, but she's continues to squat 2-3 or more times each time I take her to potty.  At least she doesn't appear to be in pain anymore - thank goodness.  But, last night I was sitting on the floor for our playtime and she crawled in my lap - both of the pups think they are lap dogs which I find cute now, but probably not so much when they are full grown.  So, she's on my lap chewing a toy, then all of a sudden I feel something hot and wet on my leg!  I scream and push her off of me to find that I've been peed on...again.  She didn't even know what s…

Happy Halloween!!

I'll admit, Halloween isn't one of my favorite holidays.  Mostly because of the dressing up - its not one of my favorite things to do.  Now, as a kid, I loved it!  My mom loves to tell me about how I loved this bunny costume I had - and I wore it everyday...literally.  I'd play outside with it on (in the hot Florida heat), and pretty much wore it all the time.  I know there is a picture of me somewhere in that stupid bunny costume with all the other kids in the neighborhood wearing their shorts and t-shirts.  Yes, I was that odd child.
Perhaps that scarred me in some crazy way, because now I just assume be the party pooper and not dress up.  However, I overcame my dislike this year and went to a Halloween party at a friends house.  This was my first one since college.  Of course I waited until the night before the party to find something to wear, same for Will.  I'll add that he hates dressing up even more than me.  He went easy, and was a fisherman and I figured I migh…
